"Even NVIDIA's Demand Alone is Enormous"
Huang's assessment indicates that TSMC needs to significantly increase its production just to meet NVIDIA's growing needs alone. However, AI chips require extremely complex and advanced manufacturing processes. Doubling capacity doesn't just mean building new fabrication plants (fabs). It also requires multi-dimensional, multi-billion dollar investments in advanced equipment procurement, skilled workforce development, and strengthening energy infrastructure. This process is seen as a massive industrial undertaking spanning a decade.
