X to Generate Community Notes Using Artificial Intelligence
X platform is preparing to more actively utilize artificial intelligence in the process of creating verification notes for controversial content. The new experiment, called 'Collaborative Notes,' is based on the principle of AI generating the initial draft and the community refining it. The system aims to increase the publication speed of notes and train AI models with community feedback.

X Launches AI Era in Content Verification
X platform (formerly Twitter) is taking a revolutionary step in its Community Notes system, launched to ensure information accuracy on the platform. The company announced it will further integrate artificial intelligence into the process of creating contextual notes about controversial or misleading content, written by users. The new experiment, called 'Collaborative Notes,' envisions AI generating the initial draft when a note request is made, followed by this draft being reviewed and refined by community members who are human participants.
This move particularly aims to accelerate verification processes in the face of rapidly spreading misinformation. While the traditional process relies entirely on contributions from volunteer users, the AI-assisted system is expected to significantly increase the speed of preparing and publishing notes. Furthermore, the system will enable continuous training of AI models by being fed with corrections and approvals from the community.
How Will It Work? Process and Goals
According to the new workflow, when a note request is generated for content on the platform, X's background AI model will analyze the topic and create an initial note draft by utilizing existing reliable sources. This draft will then be presented to users registered in the Community Notes system who possess diverse perspectives. Users will be able to vote on, correct, expand, or if necessary, reject this draft. The final note will only be published once it becomes a text agreed upon by users with differing viewpoints.
The system's primary goals are listed as follows:
- Speed: To accelerate the verification process to keep pace with the spread rate of misinformation.
- Scalability: To overcome the capacity limits of the volunteer-based system, enabling more content to be addressed in a shorter time.
- Continuous Learning: To train AI models with community feedback, improving the accuracy and relevance of future drafts.
- Collaborative Accuracy: To leverage collective human intelligence to refine AI-generated content, ensuring notes are balanced and fact-based.
This initiative represents a significant shift in social media moderation, blending automated efficiency with human oversight. By integrating AI at the draft stage, X aims to tackle the volume and velocity of online misinformation more effectively while maintaining a layer of community governance to uphold note quality and neutrality.
