Google is Adding AI-Powered Automatic Navigation Feature to Chrome

Tech giant Google is taking AI integration in the Chrome browser a step further. The company announced a new 'auto browse' feature powered by its Gemini AI. This feature has the capability to automatically perform multi-step tasks on behalf of users.

What Can Be Done with Auto Browse?

The feature will initially be offered to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the US. In auto browse mode, Gemini is said to be able to research hotels and flights, schedule appointments, fill out online forms, and manage subscriptions. According to Google's statement, the system can identify decoration products in a photo, find similar ones on the web, add them to the cart, apply discount codes, and do all this within a specified budget.

Gemini Interface in Chrome Updated

Along with this update, the Gemini interface in Chrome has also changed. The AI assistant is now positioned as a panel fixed to the right side of the screen, instead of a pop-up window. The panel supports integrations with Gmail, Calendar, Maps, Google Shopping, and Google Flights for all users. This allows Gemini to access information in these applications and perform actions within them.

Google's moves in the AI assistant space are not limited to this. As previously covered in the news Security warnings for the Moltbot AI assistant are increasing, the company is also considering the security vulnerabilities of its competitors. Furthermore, signals of a similar panel integration were given in the news titled Google is adding AI image generation and a virtual assistant panel to Chrome.

Image Editing with Nano Banana and Future Plans

The new Gemini panel also includes Google's AI-powered image generator and editor, Nano Banana. This tool will be available to all Gemini in Chrome users in the future and will offer the ability to edit an image within the window using text commands.

Google has further plans to compete with other AI browsers like OpenAI's Atlas and Perplexity's Comet. The company also plans to bring a feature called 'Personal Intelligence,' which was launched in the Gemini app, to Chrome 'in the coming months.' This feature will allow the AI to reference past conversations and analyze data linked to the user's Gmail, Calendar, Photos, and search history.

Google's innovative approach to AI and operating systems was also highlighted in the news Google's Android for PC interface leaked for the first time. Similarly, hardware-focused AI developments continue on a different scale with the news Snap is separating its AR glasses business into a separate company called Specs Inc.. All these developments are considered harbingers of new possibilities for users seeking AI solutions for complex smart home systems.
