Released Emails Reveal New Details

Millions of pages of documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice on Friday contain new details about communications between billionaire businessman Elon Musk and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The released emails brought to light Musk's correspondence in 2012 and 2013 regarding potential visits to Epstein's Caribbean island.

"Wildest Party" Question and Repeated Plans

According to the documents, in November 2012, Musk asked Epstein in an email, "What day/night will be the wildest party on your island?" The emails show Musk brought up visiting the island at least twice, in late 2012 and late 2013. This indicates the interest in visiting was not entirely one-sided.

The emails do not state whether Musk ultimately visited the island and do not show any wrongdoing by Musk. Musk did not respond to requests for comment on Friday.

Does It Contradict Musk's Previous Statements?

Elon Musk has stated for years that he did not know Jeffrey Epstein well. In a 2019 interview with Vanity Fair, he referred to Epstein as a "creepy dude" and said he had invited him to the island many times but he had declined those invitations.

A copy of Epstein's daily schedules released by House Democrats last September showed Musk was expected to visit Epstein's island in December 2014. Musk stated in a post on the X platform that day that the schedule entry was "incorrect," and wrote the next day, "Epstein tried to persuade me to go to his island and I REFUSED."

Energy and Meeting Discussions

The emails released on Friday reveal that Musk and Epstein corresponded about more than just potential island visits. The two discussed topics like solar energy and the importance of sleep. Furthermore, their administrative assistants were in contact to organize possible meetings, such as a planned lunch at the SpaceX offices near Los Angeles in February 2013. It is unclear if that meeting took place.

Musk has not been accused of any wrongdoing related to Epstein. The document release was made under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, passed by Congress last November and signed into law by President Donald Trump the same month. The files help shed light on Epstein's relationships with wealthy and influential people, including Trump.
