Reports of users being unable to access or effectively use ChatGPT began to surface around 3:00 PM Eastern Time on February 3, 2026. According to Down Detector, a surge in reported issues saw over 10,000 cases recorded shortly after the disruption began.
OpenAI's official status page confirms that the outage is impacting a broad range of ChatGPT features including user conversations, search capabilities, image generation, Codex and Atlas. The company has acknowledged the issue and stated they are working on implementing a mitigation.
